Summer 2025
BEE-KIND

What is Bee-Kind? Bee-Kind is more than just a tribute; it’s a living celebration of Gina Maria Macchio, whose life was defined by compassion, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to others. To know Gina was to know kindness in its truest form. She listened without judgment, cared without being asked, and gave herself freely and joyfully. Gina’s boundless kindness shone brightest at home. She lived with her parents for most of her life, caring tenderly for them in both ordinary moments and in times of great need. When her father suffered a stroke and had to move in with another daughter due to Gina’s physical limitations, she continued to provide love and support in every way she could. And she remained devoted to her mother until weeks before her passing, calling the chance to care for the woman who gave her life a gift. Gina also pursued her passion for serving others by becoming a nurse; working at Morton Plant Hospital and later alongside Dr. Edward Chen in his private practice, until physical limitations forced her early retirement. Yet, even when labeled “disabled,” she continued to make a difference, showing that compassion is not limited by circumstance. Bee-Kind was created to carry forward this legacy. It honors people who embody the same qualities Gina had through kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion, and care for others; even when no one asks. Just as bees spread life wherever they go, Gina’s spirit reminds us that small acts of kindness can ripple outward, transforming families, communities, and hearts.
